You don’t have to be perfect all the time.
Every single day we face so much pressure from outside influences, especially social media, to be perfect. You have to look this way, you can’t eat this, have to go to UNIversity to be something, you can’t make mistakes… Wrong. Everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect - You don’t have to be perfect.
Especially: perfection doesn’t exist. We all are imperfect.
You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.
— Koren Motekaitis
It’s just a product of those who pretend to be perfect on the outside. On social media, in the workplace, at school… But their life is usually an even bigger mess than yours. Why are they doing this? So honestly, who among you would rather watch on Instagram someone miserable, bored, talking about their problems? Or on youtube to someone who is totally transparent with the ideas and knowledge, he gives us. They are not perfect and you don’t have to be perfect as well.
YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and other social networks are a place for us to relax, a place where we want to forget our problems for just that little moment and have fun.
Is perfection just a marketing move?
So from that point of view, it’s basically just a clever marketing move, or is it more to it? But unfortunately, with that comes a big disadvantage. These social networks place unhealthy standards for all of us. Some individuals may mistakenly think that this is what everyone is looking for. Or, vice versa, that this is what they themselves will always find. And they’ll be constantly trying to fit themselves into that perfection. Let themself think, that they will somehow be happier and more loved and accepted by their surroundings if they meet this perfection. These things will not make you happier. Why? Because once you have them, you’ll want more. There will always be something else you will want to improve, tweak to perfection.
But it also helps us to keep moving forward. But we must not let it get too close to the body. Don’t chase it so much, too far…
Simultaneously, you must not doubt yourself, your abilities, skills, and accomplishments too much. Embrace your imperfection. Find the balance. Perfection does not indicate your self-worth. There is always more to be proud of.
Why it’s okay to be imperfect
We all make mistakes, we all hurt others and ourselves. The important thing is to own up to that. Instead of striving for an unrealistic standard of perfection. We all have room for improvement.
And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.
— John Steinbeck
Exactly how Steinbeck, the great American writer of the 20th century, said. Practice your gratitude. Be grateful for all you have and just be good. It’s enough and ok to be GOOD without being perfect. You are amazing either way.
